About the Opportunity

An established, family-owned beverage manufacturing and distribution organization is seeking a Regional HR Director to lead human resources initiatives across a multi-site operation in Maryland and surrounding markets.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an HR professional who combines strategic vision with hands-on operational experience. The successful candidate will oversee regional HR operations, lead a team, manage labor relations across union and non-union workforces, and drive process improvements that strengthen organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and talent retention.

Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this individual will partner with regional and executive leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives while ensuring consistent policies, practices, and compliance across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regional HR Leadership: Lead, develop, and support a regional HR team while providing guidance to leaders and employees across multiple locations.
  • Labor & Union Relations: Manage union-related HR matters, including labor contract administration, grievances, arbitration support, and collaboration with local leadership and labor counsel.
  • Change Management & Process Improvement: Identify operational challenges, evaluate existing policies and procedures, and implement improvements that drive efficiency, consistency, and positive cultural change.
  • Talent Acquisition & Retention: Develop and execute recruiting strategies, strengthen talent pipelines, and implement initiatives that improve employee retention, development, and workforce planning.
  • Employee Relations: Oversee employee investigations, disciplinary matters, conflict resolution, and other employee relations issues while fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace.
  • Training & Development: Partner with management to develop training programs that improve performance, leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, and career development.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations, corporate policies, and HR audit requirements.
  • HR Reporting & Analytics: Monitor headcount, workforce metrics, KPIs, and other reporting to identify trends and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Executive Partnership: Collaborate with the CHRO and executive team on regional priorities, organizational initiatives, policy development, and broader company-wide HR programs.
  • Health & Safety: Support environmental health and safety initiatives and promote a culture of workplace safety.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience within manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, or a similar operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a unionized workforce is required, including labor relations, grievance management, and contract administration.
  • At least 3 years of direct supervisory experience leading or developing HR team members.
  • Strong generalist HR background encompassing employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, training and development, compensation and benefits, and HR reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change, improve processes, and implement consistent HR practices across multiple locations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Organizational Management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with HRIS, payroll, and time-management systems.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel approximately 25–35% in and out of state.
  • PHR or SHRM certification preferred.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a credible, collaborative HR leader who can effectively engage frontline employees, operations leaders, and executive stakeholders. Experience supporting multi-site, multi-state operations and a combination of strategic HR leadership and hands-on labor relations expertise will be essential.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of $125,000–$145,000, depending on experience.
  • Annual performance-based bonus opportunity.
  • Profit-sharing program.
  • 401(k) with employer matching contributions.
  • Monthly cell phone allowance.
  • Generous paid time off and personal days.

Additional Details

  • Work arrangement: Fully onsite in Maryland.
  • Travel: Approximately 25–35% to regional locations.
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday.
