About the Opportunity
A well-established, privately held transportation and logistics company is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function and partner with executive leadership. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, internal controls, payroll, and developing a high-performing accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process and prepare accurate financial statements
- Oversee the general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Manage billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Maintain strong internal controls and support audits
- Oversee payroll processing and compliance
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and system efficiency
- Mentor and develop the accounting team while partnering with leadership on strategic initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller-level responsibilities
- Experience leading accounting teams
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and GAAP
- Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting systems experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $150,000–$180,000 annually
