Senior Vice President/ Managing Director

FKM employs approximately 45 mortgage banking professionals and is headquartered at 900 Third Avenue in midtown Manhattan. Our officers and directors have an average of 20 years industry experience.

FKM strives for business excellence and superior execution with the following critical functions:

• Managing the loan bidding processes which includes data mapping and ingestion, loan payment history analysis and detailed communication with multiple counterparties.
• Efficient loan document review using machine learning and optical character recognition.
• Vetting of loans for any issues with lending laws, taxes, or underlying collateral value.
• Payment collection, surveillance, and loss mitigation once the loan is purchased.
• Securitization of loans into bonds and marketing these assets to institutional investors.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

• Work and develop relationships with insurance companies to understand their investment needs with a focus on optimizing capital treatment and statutory book yield.
• Structure investment products (e.g., rated notes) that are capital efficient under NAIC and RBC frameworks.
• Pitch investment instruments such as structured credit, private placements, or other rated assets.
• Act as a bridge between the structuring team and institutional investors.
• Understand regulatory capital frameworks, tax structures, and statutory accounting (e.g., NAIC, RBC, SAP) and how these impact investment structuring and balance sheet treatment for insurers.
• Analyze historical performance data and collateral characteristics.
• Research and present new asset class investment opportunities.
• Discover new sources of collateral.
• Conduct analysis on new residential opportunities in the U.S. & Europe.
• Collaborate with U.S. and European team members in all aspects of managing loan acquisition opportunities, securitization execution, and portfolio performance.
• Review term sheets and prospectus of comparable deals and prepare summaries.
• Work with internal and external diligence, legal, compliance, and contract finance teams to identify areas of concern and potential solutions.
• Create insightful reports with detailed analysis to be used in making business and investment decisions.
• Leverage prior experience and in-house resources to research new structured product classes.

Qualifications

• 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry. In-house insurance company experience preferred. Seeking insurance product specialist with experience structuring investments for insurance balance sheets or working with insurance CIOs.
• Pre-existing relationships to develop new sourcing opportunities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact successfully with diverse levels of management, operational staff, counterparties, and outside vendors.
• Ability to demonstrate high quality decision making with keen problem-solving ability in a timely manner.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• High level of commitment, strong work ethic, and positive attitude.
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.

Compensation

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $250,000 and $350,000 annually. The base salary offered to the chosen candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by FKM in its sole discretion. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is often a meaningful portion of the compensation package, and a comprehensive benefits package.
