Senior Accountant

FirstFour Staffing is assisting a confidential industrial client in the Portsmouth, VA area with their search for a Senior Accountant. This is a highly visible, hands-on role that offers the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of accounting, from transactional work to month-end close and financial reporting.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and wants to have a direct impact on the day-to-day financial operations of a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee general ledger activity, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments
• Perform staff accounting duties such as bank reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records
• Support external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
• Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting function
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• 4 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting
• Hands-on experience with AP/AR and general ledger accounting
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
