Position Overview

Responsible For: Individuals accessing residential services

Travel Requirement: Up to 40% travel within service areas
- Full Time: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
As a Traveling CNA, you will provide essential personal care and support to clients in various supervised settings. This role requires clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to different levels of client functioning while maintaining First Resources Corp. policies and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Your core duties will revolve around high-quality client care, staff mentorship, and accurate documentation:

Direct Client Care & Advocacy: Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, and eating. Advocate for client preferences, support individual rights, and always obtain consent prior to any interventions.

Clinical Monitoring & Medication: Monitor and record vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration). Assist with medications, accurately log passes on the Medication Administration Record (MAR), and report any discrepancies or vital changes to your supervisor.

Mobility & Preventative Care: Help clients with transferring, positioning, and ambulating to prevent bedsores.

Mentorship: Actively participate in the First Resources' Care Mentor team to assess environmental safety barriers and train direct care staff on the importance of preventative care.

Communication & Coordination: Maintain open communication with clients, families, and internal/external parties to ensure seamless service coordination.

Compliance & Documentation: Complete all required service documentation within 24 hours of delivery. Maintain strict confidentiality at all times and immediately report health and safety risks.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Current CNA certification (or willingness to obtain it).

Prior CNA experience or experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
Skills & Physical Demands

Proficiency in ADLs, vital signs monitoring, and medication assistance.

Basic computer literacy.

Strong interpersonal skills and excellent bedside manner.

Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds without restrictions.
Logistics & Compliance

Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and personal auto insurance meeting State of Iowa requirements (must be insurable under company policy).

Access to a telephone.
Required Training (To be completed upon hire)

Success completion of the new hire orientation checklist and medication administration training.

CPR/First Aid Certification (within the first 30 days).

Complete and maintain regulatory requirements for HCBS & DIAL services.

Non-violent crisis intervention training (within the first 6 months, with bi-annual refreshers).
