JOB SUMMARY
FPDS is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Teacher (Full-Time) to join our Director and teaching staff in caring for our youngest students beginning June 2026. The Early Childhood Teacher, under the direction of the Early Childhood Director, is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports early childhood development for children in Early Childhood (birth - 2 years old), while creating a positive, Christ-centered environment.
JOB TYPE, SUPERVISION AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This job is for year round, full-time employment. Hours of operation are from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm daily, Monday through Friday. The job reports to the Early Childhood Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote early childhood development, with a focus on social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual growth.
- Create a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment where children feel secure, loved, and valued.
- Integrate Bible stories, prayer, and Christian principles into daily routines and activities.
- Foster positive relationships with children, guiding them in their emotional and social development through loving discipline and encouragement.
- Observe and assess the developmental progress of each child and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate regularly with parents about the progress and needs of their children, providing support and guidance as necessary.
- Encourage and model respectful, Christ-like behavior in interactions with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Support and engage in school activities, including chapel services, field trips, and special events.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom, ensuring that all materials and equipment are safe and appropriate for the age group.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to early childhood education and care.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
- At least twice a year the Early Childhood Director will provide an assessment of each EC Teacher’s performance and conformity with the responsibilities and personal qualities required of the job. The assessment will identify areas of excellence, areas needing improvement, and progress on previously identified areas needing improvement. The results of the Director’s assessment will be filed in the EC Teacher’s performance file.
REQUIRED PERSONAL QUALITIES
- Profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and live out their faith daily. Uphold the Bible as the ultimate authority for life and faith and fully agree with the school’s Statement of Faith. Be an active member in good standing at a local evangelical church.
- Model Christ-like traits such as integrity, humility, kindness, self-control, and perseverance. Maintain a clean, modest, and professional appearance consistent with the school’s values and dress code.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
- Ability to interact positively and constructively with children, parents, and staff.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
TERMS
This is a full-time, year-round position. Employees with children in school through Grade 6 are required to enroll them in FPDS. Exceptions are made for children enrolled in public school or being cared for by family members. FPDS offers a substantial tuition discount for each child.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Full Time EC Teachers will be compensated on an hourly basis, payable monthly. They are eligible for FPDS’s group benefits.
