Position Summary: The Church Technical Worship Director will oversee and manage all technical aspects of the worship services, ensuring seamless execution of sound, lighting, and visual elements during worship services and events. This part-time role (15 hours per week) is integral to enhancing the worship experience and creating an atmosphere that allows the congregation to engage fully. The position requires a combination of technical expertise, creativity, and a passion for supporting the worship team in ministry.
Key Responsibilities:
Audio-Visual Setup & Management
- Oversee operation of and maintain sound and video equipment during worship services, including mixers, microphones, speakers, and projectors/screens.
- Ensure all technical systems are in working order before each service and event.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during worship services in real-time to avoid disruptions.
Worship Service Support
- Collaborate with the Worship Director and team to design and implement technical elements that align with the worship experience (e.g., sound, lighting, media).
- Coordinate and schedule technical volunteers for worship services and special events.
Technical Equipment Maintenance
- Perform regular checks and basic maintenance on audio, video, and lighting equipment.
- Report and arrange for any required repairs or upgrades of equipment.
- Keep an inventory of technical equipment, ensuring that all necessary items are available and in good working condition.
Training & Team Development
- Provide training and guidance to volunteers operating sound, lighting, and video equipment.
- Foster a team-oriented environment for volunteers, providing opportunities for growth and learning.
- Lead occasional technical rehearsals to ensure smooth integration of all elements during services.
Event Support & Special Services
- Assist with the technical setup and operation for special church events, such as church programming events as needed, holidays, memorial, or weddings, as needed.
- Manage audio/visual for any live-streaming of worship services or events.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems (e.g., digital mixers, projectors, stage lighting, cameras).
- Experience in a worship or church setting preferred.
- Technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to think on your feet.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with different teams (worship, staff, volunteers).
- Flexible schedule to accommodate rehearsals, services, and events.
Work Schedule:
- This is a part-time position requiring ~15 hours per week, with the flexibility to accommodate service times, rehearsals, programs, and events.
- Weekly hours may vary, but will typically consist of a combination of pre-service preparation, service time, and occasional additional support for events or rehearsals.
