First Presbyterian Church, located in the heart of downtown Bennettsville, SC, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time adult Chancel Choir Director to join our outstanding ministry team to enhance our traditional, Reformed worship experience. As a key member of our church arts program, you will design engaging rehearsals, develop choir members’ skills, and ensure a positive, collaborative environment that glorifies God and celebrates musical excellence within a multi-generational congregation. Duties

• Collaborate closely with the clergy and organist to select music that aligns with liturgical themes and enhances worship
• Lead weekly rehearsals, focusing on vocal technique, harmony, and performance skills to prepare the choir for upcoming worship services and special events
• Develop and implement rehearsal plans that align with the choir’s musical goals and repertoire
• Foster a supportive environment that encourages teamwork, confidence, and artistic growth among choir members
• Conduct a three-octave experienced, adult handbell choir (optional, with additional compensation)
• Conduct performances at weekly services and special events, ensuring high-quality delivery and stage presence
• Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to help musicians improve their technique and musical understanding
• Communicate effectively with choir members regarding rehearsal schedules, performance details, and program updates
• Effectively manage the overall music budget and maintain the music library
• Secure replacement leadership when absent

• Proficient musician with a solid, strong choral/handbell conducting background

• Please list 2-3 dates you would be available for an interview with our pastor and search committee, as well as a tour of our church facility. If selected as a finalist, you will be requested to work with our organist and lead the Chancel Choir in practice. Musical pieces will be determined in advance.
