Position Purpose:
This is a managerial position which requires supervision of facilities staff, scheduling, computer and communications skills. Responsible for the general maintenance and repair of all aspects of the building and grounds.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervises the custodial staff, assigning their work and being responsible for the quality and completeness of their work.
- Schedules evening and weekend work to ensure that all services, programs and activities are covered.
- Supervises or completes room setups for all activities scheduled in the building.
- Responsible for purchasing building and grounds supplies as needed and managing the inventory.
- Performs minor repair work and schedules major repairs with outside providers.
- Serves as messenger for the office when trips away from the building are needed, such as taking mailings to the post office, to secure supplies and repair parts, and other trips as required.
- Responsible for the maintenance of all building equipment and systems, coordinating regular contracted maintenance, calling for and scheduling service calls, and evaluating the quality and response of maintenance providers.
- Responsible for all building permitting, including but not limited to boiler, fire systems, alarm system, elevators.
- Responsible for the computer scheduling of all rooms for heating and air conditioning.
- Frequently checks the building and grounds for required upkeep and maintenance. Follows through to see that all work is completed satisfactorily.
- Responsible for completing or scheduling dishwashing required for church groups and outside rental activities.
- Responsible for working with the contractor for snow removal in the parking lots.
- Performs or supervises the snow removal from all entrances and sidewalks as required.
- Communicates and coordinates with the Director of Administration for any problems or non-routine decisions.
- Responsible for the overall security of the building at all times, whether personally on duty, or through the other custodians after normal building hours. Must be available in times of emergencies.
- In collaboration with the Director of Administration, develops a professional growth plan for knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics required of the position.
Technical skills
Technical computer skills including Microsoft products
Email communications proficiency
Ability to manage HVAC and lighting systems through internet interface and phone application
Job Qualifications:
Good interpersonal skills necessary to work with other staff and members of the congregation.
Experience and knowledge of repairs and upkeep of a large facility.
Ability to work independently, knowledgeably, accurately and decisively.
Must be physically able to perform required duties of the position
Must be able to work a flexible schedule that fluctuates days and time, including weekends and evenings. On call for emergencies.

Provide leadership that embodies church principles.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience and ability in supervising a small work team
Facilities management experience necessary
Vendor management
Experienced in HVAC
Criminal background check required
Current driver’s license
GED or High School Diploma
