What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Consultant position at First Merchants Brand?
First Merchants Bank is seeking a Mortgage Consultant to join our team! This full time position will focus on managing residential loan applications through internal portfolio deals and walk-in customers.
As part of this role you will:
- Provide exemplary customer service to walk-in and referred customers.
- Interview loan applicants to collect and analyze financial data to determine the merits of the specific loan request.
- Establish and negotiate terms under which credit will be extended, including costs, repayment method, repayment schedule, escrow accounts, workout situations and portfolio refinancing loans.
- Assist customers with mortgage servicing questions related to payment postings, escrow issues, etc.
- Support the credit control department by assisting with the restructuring or modification of past due portfolio mortgage loans.
- Advise customers concerning financial matters.
- Participate in community affairs to increase the bank’s visibility and enhance new business opportunities.
- Maintain the public reputation of the bank and corporation.
To be successful in this position, we require the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- A minimum of one (1) year of mortgage lending, consumer lending or related experience.
