GENERAL DESCRIPTION
A landscape technician is responsible for the care and maintenance of outdoor spaces including lawns, trees, shrubs, gardens, and raised beds.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Care and maintenance of various types of natural grasses including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, irrigating, aerating, and soil testing
Care and maintenance of artificial or synthetic turf
Inspect irrigation systems for proper operation and identify leaks, broken heads, coverage issues, or timer malfunctions
Perform basic irrigation repairs and adjustments as needed
Planting, transplanting, weeding, fertilizing, and mulching trees, shrubs, garden beds and raised beds
Groundskeeping including raking leaves and clearing debris
Pruning and trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs
Performing maintenance and repairs on equipment and machines
Installing various types of hardscaping including edging, walkways, retaining walls, etc.
Loading and unloading landscape and hardscape supplies and equipment
Any other duties as assigned that align with the nature of this position
QUALITIFICATIONS
Job qualifications may include but are not limited to the following:
Basic knowledge and understanding of the care and maintenance of various grass types, flowers, shrubs, and trees
Knowledge and understanding of the operation and maintenance of various kinds of machines including riding mowers, walk-behind mowers, bobcats, forklifts, trimmers, chainsaws, pole saws, blowers, etc.
Knowledge of irrigation system installation and maintenance, sprinkler leads, valves, and controllers – experience a plus
The ability to work safely in various weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, etc
High level of physical stamina including the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, stoop, carry, push, pull, and/or reach for extended periods
One year or more experience in the field of landscaping or groundskeeping
Satisfactory criminal background check
High school diploma or GED
Attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to lift and/or carry 50 pounds
