About The Position
As the Payment Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution, oversight, and management of the Bank’s payment operations. Your role will have direct oversight of payment operations staff and serves as a hands-on subject matter expert across payment rails, including Federal Reserve services, ACH, wires, real-time payments, and card operations, ensuring operational stability, regulatory compliance, and effective controls.

As the Payment Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution, oversight, and management of the Bank’s payment operations. Your role will have direct oversight of payment operations staff and serves as a hands-on subject matter expert across payment rails, including Federal Reserve services, ACH, wires, real-time payments, and card operations, ensuring operational stability, regulatory compliance, and effective controls.
You will partner closely with the Vice President, Payment Operations by owning operational execution and monitoring, allowing senior leadership to remain focused on strategic initiatives, growth, and external relationships. You will play a key part in supporting increasing complexity and real-time payment activity while strengthening operational discipline and resiliency.
What You Will Do
- Manage the day-to-day operations of all payment channels, including Federal Reserve services (FedLine Advantage, FedNow, Fedwire), ACH, wires, real-time payments, and card operations.
- Monitor and support payment activity in an increasingly real-time environment, including awareness of operational needs and escalation protocols.
- Serve as a primary operational resource with deep knowledge of payment rails, processing flows, and Federal Reserve connectivity.
- Ensure appropriate operational controls are in place as payment capabilities expand, including transaction limits, file controls, monitoring thresholds, and exception handling.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and network rules (e.g., Reg E, NACHA rules, Federal Reserve requirements).
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Finance teams to support audits, exams, reconciliations, and issue resolution related to payment operations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to assess and improve payment-related tools, automation, and accounting or reconciliation processes.
- Identify operational gaps and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, control, and resiliency.
- Develop and monitor operational reports and metrics to support visibility into payment activity and issues for the Bank and Fintech Partners.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to payment operations staff by sharing operational expertise and best practices.
- Support onboarding and ongoing oversight of fintech and third-party payment relationships from a payment operations perspective.
- Develop, maintain, and update payment procedures, workflows, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of five years of experience in payment operations, banking operations, or a related financial services discipline
- Previous experience in leading a team
- Strong working knowledge of Federal Reserve payment services, ACH, wire transfers, real-time payments, and card operations
- Experience managing day-to-day payment processes and operational controls in a regulated banking environment
- Understanding of operational risk management and compliance requirements related to payments
- Ability to balance hands-on operational execution with broader operational planning
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, Finance, Technology, and external partners
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and payment-related systems and tools
- Professional office setting.
- Primarily sedentary position requiring long periods of time working at a computer.
- Must be able to move throughout the office and buildings to obtain or relay information.
