What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Underwriter position at First Insurance Company of Hawaii?
*This position is located on the island of Oahu and is not remote. Candidates must work in the state of Hawaii upon hire*
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Process new business, renewals, endorsements and other transactions, includes handling basic underwriting analysis for routine new business applications.
- Input data into underwriting tools during pre-underwriting processes and/or gather missing information to assist underwriters in proper evaluation of new and renewal accounts
- Collaborates with team members to address needs, updates, or concerns related to assigned accounts with understanding of core property & casualty line of business or insurance segment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications / Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work well with other
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Able to follow directions and detail oriented
Assistant Underwriter I (including the above plus the following):
- 1 – 2 years general office experience in insurance industry
Assistant Underwriter II (including the above plus the following):
- 3 – 4 years general office experience in insurance industry
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Commercial underwriting or rating experience
Salary:
$40,800 to $59,670 annually
