Engineering Technician

Job Summary:

Southern Engineering & Testing / Certerra has an immediate opening for a full-time mid-level Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Inspector in Greensboro, North Carolina. The position is best suited for someone interested in working in a fast-paced consultant environment, does not mind some travel, and capable of effectively working as part of a collaborative team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Field and laboratory testing of construction materials.


• Maintaining required certifications (ACI, ICC, NCDOT)


• Coordinating with clients and Project Managers.


• Travel to client facilities as needed


• Report writing and computer skills


• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.


• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.


• Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM.


• Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.


• Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.


• Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.


• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Education/Qualifications:

• 
  
  
  
  • 2-5 years of construction materials testing experience
  
  
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification (Required)
  
  
  • ICC certifications (preferred)
  
  
  • State DOT certifications (preferred)
  
  
  • A strong safety focus and attention to detail
  
  
  • Excellent plan reading skills
  
  
  • A demonstrated math and technical aptitude
  
  
  • Flexibility to work extended or non-traditional hours as needed
  
  
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
  
  
  • A High School diploma or equivalent
  
  
  • A valid driver’s license
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking on uneven ground on construction sites.


• The ability to lift 50-75 pounds


• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
