What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technologist position at First Fertility?
Lab Technician – Andrology & Endocrinology | Fertility Specialists of Texas
Fertility Specialists of Texas (FST) is a leading fertility clinic known for our advanced treatments and compassionate, patient-centered approach. With high success rates and exceptional care, we provide services including fertility consultations, egg, sperm, and embryo freezing, IUI, and IVF. Our dedicated team supports patients every step of the way.
We're looking for a precise, patient-focused Lab Technician to join our Andrology and Endocrinology team full-time at the Lubbock, TX location. In this role, your work sits at the intersection of science and compassionate care — preparing semen samples for male fertility diagnosis and IVF treatment, conducting hormone assays, and executing complex technical procedures with accuracy that directly impacts patient outcomes. If you take pride in getting it right every time and want your work to mean something, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
You'll be a critical part of daily lab operations across both our andrology and endocrinology laboratories. That means performing semen analyses and sperm preparation for IUI and IVF/ICSI procedures, conducting endocrinology testing, and managing reagents and inventory to keep everything running smoothly. You'll carry out calibration, calibration verification, and linearity testing for the immunoanalyzer, input control data into Biorad's Unitycare/QCNet, and generate monthly control reports. You'll also perform cryopreservation and thawing of sperm samples and coordinate the shipping and receiving of cryopreserved specimens. Maintaining rigorous daily, weekly, and monthly quality control standards across both labs is a core part of the role — and you'll work closely with the laboratory director and manager to uphold those standards at every turn. Patient interaction is part of the job too: you'll greet and room patients, communicate results as directed, and flag any abnormal parameters to the physician or laboratory director promptly.
The schedule is 8-hour shifts between the hours of 6:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and holidays.
What We're Looking For
You hold a Bachelor's degree and bring hands-on laboratory experience. You have exceptional attention to detail, thrive under pressure, and understand that in this environment, precision isn't optional — it's everything. You communicate clearly, collaborate well with clinical teams, and bring a calm, focused approach even on the busiest days. Weekend and holiday rotation availability is required.
