About Children's Ministry at FFUMC:

First Farragut UMC is a growing congregation in West Knox county. We are a mission-oriented church that currently averages 130 worshippers on Sunday mornings. A typical Sunday morning in the Children's Ministry area includes a Sunday School hour (called Kids Grow) and a worship hour (excluding first Sundays). We average between 12-18 children on Sunday mornings with many more children engaged via community outreach events.

Position Summary:

The Director of Children’s Ministry (DCM) provides Christian leadership and oversight for children (birth through 5th grade) and their families by planning, implementing, and supervising all aspects of FFUMC’s children’s ministries. The DCM works in partnership with staff and families to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that fosters spiritual growth and equips families to lead faith formation in the home.

Key Responsibilities:

Children’s Ministry Leadership

  • Develop, organize, and lead ministry programs for children (birth–5th grade), including Sunday mornings, seasonal events (e.g., Advent, Lent, Easter, VBS), and occasional midweek or special programming.
  • Ensure that all programming aligns with FFUMC’s mission and values, fostering faith, fun, and a sense of belonging.

Volunteer Recruitment & Training

  • Maintain and organize supplies, materials, and classrooms.

Safe Sanctuaries and Safety Oversight

  • Maintain and implement FFUMC’s Safe Sanctuaries Policy, ensuring all staff and volunteers are trained and compliant.
  • Prioritize creating a physically, emotionally, and spiritually safe environment for all children and volunteers.
