Children's Choir Director

$30.00 per hour

4 hours per week (approx.)

Qualifications

1. Bachelor of Music degree preferred.

2. Self-guidance and organizational skills necessary.

3. Open to constructive and beneficial changes.

4. Assures cooperation and teamwork with all members and staff of FUMC.

5. Demonstrates experience and excitement leading children’s music.

6. Ability to climb stairs and lift items 20lbs or heavier.

7. Successfully complete Safe Sanctuaries training.

To Whom Responsible

Organist & Choirmaster (O/C)

Responsibilities

1. Work with O/C to either develop or to select and implement curriculum for the Children’s Treble Choir (TC) as well as create a calendar for the year (September-May).

2. Coordinate with the Director of Children & Family Ministries regarding rehearsal themes (CFM Director leads a short devotion and assists with rehearsals).

3. Maintain up to date rosters and contact information for all participants and parents in the TC.

4. Oversee the organization of music in choral folders for the TC as needed.

5. Lead rehearsals and performances of the TC including rehearsals once per week, singing in church once per month, singing at the annual Lessons & Carols Service, and the possibility of a Spring concert or a musical in tandem with the youth.

6. Teach songs as part of Sunday School for all children who cannot attend weekly rehearsals.

Time Requirements

Weekly rehearsal Tuesdays 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.*

-Including one hour for set up/clean up and one hour for planning time

Weekly rehearsal Sundays during Sunday School hour at 10:00 a.m. (Actual Time TBD)

Monthly participation in 11:00 a.m. worship

-Alternating between Contemporary & Traditional services

2-3 additional services or performances as needed though the year

Children’s TC does not meet during the summer, so commitment is approximately 45 weeks.

*Rehearsal time may be adjusted with approval from participant parents.
