Position Summary
We are looking for an energetic center director for our newly opened facility. We are looking for someone with knowledge of the overall start-up, operation, and management of running a new child care center. This role ensures the center operates in full compliance with all state licensing regulations, maintains high-quality educational programming, supports staff development, and builds strong relationships with families and the community. The Director serves as the primary leader and decision-maker for daily operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Program & Operations Management
- Oversee the launch and daily operation of the child care center
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing, DHS, OCDEL, and local regulations
- Implement, and monitor policies and procedures set forth by company
- Maintain accurate records including enrollment, attendance, ratios, incident reports, and inspections
- Ensure a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
- Coordinate classroom schedules, transitions, and staffing coverage
Staff Management & Leadership
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and train staff in accordance with licensing requirements
- Ensure all staff meet training, background clearance, and credential requirements
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate staff performance
- Maintain staff files, training logs, and personnel documentation
- Create staff schedules to meet ratio and program needs
- Address staff concerns, disciplinary actions, and terminations professionally and promptly
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families
- Conduct tours, enrollments, and orientation meetings
- Address parent concerns, complaints, and feedback in a timely manner
- Communicate center policies, updates, and expectations clearly
- Build positive relationships with community partners, agencies, and stakeholders
Compliance & Licensing
- Prepare for and manage licensing inspections, audits, and monitoring visits
- Ensure corrective actions and plans of correction are completed and documented
- Maintain required postings and documentation onsite
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, and child supervision standards
- Ensure mandatory reporting policies are followed
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Monitor enrollment, billing, and tuition collection
- Work with ownership or administration on budgets and financial planning
- Control expenses and approve purchases
- Maintain supply inventory and order materials as needed
- Support subsidy, grant, and program participation (e.g., Pre-K, CCIS)
Curriculum & Quality Assurance
- Implement an age-appropriate curriculum aligned with state standards
- Support classroom observations and instructional quality
- Ensure developmental screenings, assessments, and documentation are completed
- Promote social-emotional learning and positive behavior guidance
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure health and safety policies are followed at all times
- Oversee emergency preparedness and drills
- Ensure medication administration and incident reporting procedures are followed
- Maintain confidentiality and child protection standards
- Ensure safe drop-off, pick-up, and release procedures
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
