Director of Contemporary Worship

Job Summary
We are seeking a committed and passionate Director of Contemporary Worship to lead worship ministry team and help improve our Contemporary Worship ministry. This vital role involves shaping the musical and spiritual direction of our contemporary worship services, fostering a vibrant and engaging worship environment that encourages authentic connection with God. The ideal candidate will possess a growing and vibrant personal faith life that aligns with the vision and culture of First Baptist Church, leadership skills, the ability to work together with an established praise and worship team, the ability to play one or more instruments (i.e. guitar, keys, etc) and sing, knowledge of ProPresenter and other worship management tools, and excellent communication abilities to cultivate a team committed to excellence in worship and spiritual growth.

Principal Function:

The Director of Contemporary Worship will plan and lead the worship and music for the Contemporary Worship services and coordinate the contemporary style musical activities of the church.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and supervise the contemporary music and worship activities, to include:
• Coordinate with members of praise team (band members and contemporary A/V team) communicating songs choices for the week, who is responsible for vocals in each song, and ensuring that both that band has access to music in enough time to practice and become familiar with the songs before rehearsal.
• Prepare and direct contemporary music elements during the contemporary worship services
• Ensure songs lyrics are entered correctly into ProPresenter each week.
• Participate, along with the Senior Pastor, in the coordination of the Contemporary Worship services; providing leadership in the planning and implementation of the worship experience, including
• Selection of the songs supporting the theme of worship. Songs should be selected no later than the Tuesday morning before the Sunday service and communicated to the praise team no later than Tuesday night before the Sunday service.
• When applicable, selection of special or unique musical instruments and talent
• Special services where contemporary music and worship are desired or required. (i.e. funerals or seasonal services for Advent, Christmas, Lent, World Communion, etc.)
• When applicable, under the Senior Pastor’s guidance, coordinate with other churches for music supporting ecumenical services
• When required, in conjunction with the Senior Pastor and appropriate committee and/or teams, support in the recruiting of new praise band members whenever a vacancy occurs, seeking to maintain participation of those already involved.
• If able, provide individual vocal/instrument coaching to band members.
• Maintain contemporary music library, materials, supplies, and musical instruments. And when needed work with Senior Pastor to make specific budget requests.
• Stay current with contemporary praise music in order to keep our contemporary service songs fresh and relevant.

Proficencies:

• Have a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ
• Play an instrument (guitar, keys, etc)
• Be able to use ProPresenter, Worship Tools, and other worship planning software
• Knowledge of sound technology (digital mixer, audio mixing, live streaming, etc) a plus

Supervision: The Director of Contemporary Worship is directly responsible to and works under the supervision of the Senior Pastor.

Classification and Schedule:

• Part-time, non-exempt; salary
• 10-12 hours weekly

Pay: $12,480.00 per year
