The Operations Quality & Controls Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance of deposit account operations. This position focuses on identifying trends, assessing risk, and strengthening controls related to deposit account setup and maintenance activities.
In addition to performing and overseeing quality reviews, this role analyzes recurring issues, partners with internal teams to implement corrective actions, and serves as a senior subject matter expert within Deposit Operations. The role also provides backup support for IRA administration, helping ensure continuity and regulatory compliance.
This position is ideal for a seasoned banking operations professional who enjoys combining hands-on work with analysis, problem-solving, and process improvement.
- Perform and oversee deposit account quality and edit check reviews to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Analyze exception reports and operational data to identify trends, root causes, and risk exposure
- Recommend and support corrective actions to reduce repeat errors and strengthen preventive controls
- Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk deposit account issues
- Partner with internal teams (Operations, Technology, Retail, Digital Banking) on process improvements and system changes
- Support audits and examinations by preparing documentation and explaining quality trends and remediation efforts
- Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to operations staff to improve accuracy and consistency
- Maintain working knowledge of IRA products and regulations and serve as backup to the primary IRA Administrator as needed
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 6–8 years of progressive experience in deposit operations or banking operations
- Strong knowledge of deposit products, account maintenance, and regulatory requirements
- Experience analyzing operational issues and identifying root causes
- Working knowledge of IRA products and regulations, or willingness to develop proficiency
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational systems
