The Credit Analyst III is responsible for conducting in-depth credit analyses of ag and commercial loan applications to assess creditworthiness and recommend appropriate loan terms. This role requires a strong understanding of financial analysis, risk assessment, and industry trends. The analyst will utilize various data sources, including financial statements, collateral appraisals, credit scores, and cash flow analysis to evaluate loan applications and prepare comprehensive credit memos. This position works closely with the bank’s agricultural and commercial loan officers, as well as other members of the credit department.
- Collects, reviews, and analyzes financial data from ag and commercial loan applicants, including financial statements, tax returns, and business plans.
- Performs detailed financial analysis, including ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, and debt service coverage ratio calculations to assess borrower's creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
- Evaluates collateral and conducts industry analysis to determine the overall credit risk associated with the loan application.
- May serve as the main analyst for specific agricultural or commercial portfolios
- Prepares comprehensive credit memos, including key financial ratios, supporting documentation, covenants, executive summaries, and objective loan recommendations.
- Presents credit memos to loan officers and loan committees, clearly articulating credit risks and recommendations.
- Stays current on industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk.
- Completes annual reviews; to include site and farm visits, documentation related to visits, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
- Responds to complicated inquiries or challenging spreads when more in-depth and knowledgeable assistance as needed.
- Collaborates with loan officers and other departments to ensure timely and accurate credit analysis.
- May participate in special projects or assignments as required.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned and requested.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of credit analysis experience in the ag and commercial lending industry.
- Ability to execute objectives and projects independently with general oversight
- Ability to address complex job related/technical issues and problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficient in relevant software applications (e.g., financial analysis software, loan origination systems).
