Commercial Appraisal Reviewer

First Bank & Trust is seeking a qualified Commercial Appraisal Reviewer to work out of the Corporate Center in Abingdon, VA. Responsibilities include conducting in-depth commercial appraisal reviews and findings, as well as working directly with loan officers to engage appraisers on a daily basis. The ideal candidate for this role is a self- starter, organized individual that understands the importance of keeping processes sharp. This person should have the ability to multi-task and provide above average communication skills through phone and email. Prior appraising knowledge and experience is not required but is highly desirable for this position.

POSITION SUMMARY:  Supports bank management and loan officers by providing appraisal reviews and related appraisal functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist credit administration department by conducting in-depth commercial appraisal reviews and prepares reports of findings. 
• Provide approval of appraisers to do work for the Bank and maintains a list of approved appraisers. 
• Confirm the approved appraisers license and E & O insurance are current.
• Recommend the bank’ services and products to the public.
• Assist the credit administration department with the preparation of selected real estate related reports.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• High school diploma or equivalent - required
• Appraiser’s license - preferred 
• Associates degree - Accounting, Business and/or Finance - preferred 
• Three or more years of banking or appraisal experience - preferred
• Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential information 
• Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook. 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team 
• Working knowledge of how appraisals are prepared and the logic necessary to achieve a reasonable conclusion.
