What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Lender position at FIRST BANK AND TRUST COMPANY?
The First Bank and Trust Company is seeking an experienced and motivated Agricultural Loan Officer to join our team. This individual will play a key role in servicing existing agricultural customers while expanding the bank’s presence in Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol and the surrounding area.
The Agricultural Loan Officer will expand the bank’s presence by actively promoting the Bank’s full suite of financial products and services, with a particular focus on agricultural loans and deposit solutions. The ideal candidate will work to strengthen the Bank’s footprint in the agricultural community by cultivating meaningful relationships with local farmers, agri-businesses, and rural enterprises.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To achieve agricultural and commercial lending goals in compliance with the bank’s overall growth, profitability, and credit quality objectives.
- Work closely with current and potential customers to understand their operations and financial needs.
- Actively develop new business relationships and service our current customers.
- Keeps abreast of pertinent market and regulatory developments to identify current and potential lending market areas in the region.
- Fully understand and promote the bank’s products and services to include but not be limited to the digital banking tools and resources.
- Understand the Bank’s required underwriting guidelines to include cash flows, loan repayment options and credit terms.
- Maintains a portfolio of existing customers and relationships as needed to accommodate annual new business.
- Work with Credit Administration and Loan Operations to ensure all required underwriting documents are accurate and received for review in a timely manner.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Correspond with customers to answer questions regarding application information.
- Actively participate in the community to promote The First Bank and Trust Company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree – Agriculture, Accounting, Business or Finance
- Two years of previous lending or underwriting experience
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn banking software.
