Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a pediatric-focused clinical environment. The RN will assess patient needs, coordinate care, administer treatments and medications, educate patients and families, and collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to support optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Perform patient triage, assessments, and data collection while addressing physiological, psychological, cognitive, cultural, and age-specific needs.
• Assist healthcare providers with the delivery of timely and appropriate patient care.
• Administer oral and injectable medications, immunizations, and treatments as ordered.
• Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory specimens as needed.
• Educate and counsel patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care.
• Coordinate internal and external referrals to support continuity of care.
• Communicate with pharmacies and insurance companies regarding treatment plans, authorizations, and medication approvals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Follow OSHA, infection control, HIPAA, and applicable safety requirements.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations using sound clinical judgment and established protocols.
• Advocate for patient rights and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Apply evidence-based practices and current standards of care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes.
• Maintain professional competency through continuing education and ongoing self-assessment.
• Promote a collaborative, respectful, and culturally sensitive clinical environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Current and valid New York State RN license and registration.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current Infection Control certification.
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience; ambulatory care or FQHC experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, triage, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of ambulatory care practices and population health management.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and support team members.
• Cultural competence and ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a clinical environment for extended periods.
• Frequent direct patient interaction across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
• Ability to work around communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and clinical equipment while using appropriate PPE.
• Manual dexterity required for examinations and minor procedures.
• Ability to lift or move approximately 25 pounds.
• Sufficient visual and auditory acuity for patient assessment, documentation, and communication.
• Ability to multitask and adapt effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
