About the Opportunity:
This role is responsible for overseeing and executing all quality control (QC) management activities in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) contract requirements, project plans, and organizational objectives.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Serve independently as the Contractor Quality Control (CQC) representative while coordinating all QC functions to prevent delays in the construction schedule.
- Read and interpret specifications, reference codes, and applicable standards.
- Review and interpret contract drawings.
- Evaluate provisions for required inspections, controls, and testing.
- Prepare the project’s CQC submittal plan.
- Manage initial setup and daily operations of QCS/RMS functions.
- Oversee efficient processing and tracking of all project submittals.
- Verify that all materials and equipment have been properly tested, submitted, and approved.
- Inspect work areas to ensure completion and compliance with contract requirements, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Identify, communicate, and document deficiencies; ensure timely corrective actions.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with the Contracting Officer and their representatives regarding project status.
- Conduct mandatory meetings with all relevant stakeholders.
- Perform daily checks to verify control activities—including testing and compliance—and document all findings.
- Prepare a daily QC report for inclusion in the project manager’s daily report.
- Conduct all completion inspections, including punch-out, pre-final, and final acceptance.
- Maintain accurate, current records that provide evidence of all required QC activities and testing.
- Active U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification.
- Minimum 5 years of documented experience as a QC Manager and 5 years of general construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years of construction industry safety experience on similar project types.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge and experience with QC-RMS.
- Strong problem-solving skills; able to gather and analyze information effectively, develop alternatives, and collaborate well in group settings.
- Excellent written communication: clear, informative writing; strong grammar and editing skills; ability to interpret written information and present numerical data effectively.
- Strong customer service orientation: responds promptly, seeks feedback, and follows through on commitments.
- Effective verbal communication: speaks clearly and persuasively, listens actively, asks clarifying questions, and responds appropriately.
