About the Role:

The Housekeeping Tech plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and overall hygiene within the Firefighter's Home. This position ensures that all assigned areas are cleaned to the highest standards, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for residents and visitors. The Housekeeping Tech is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks, including dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing surfaces, and managing waste disposal efficiently. Attention to detail and adherence to health and safety protocols are essential to prevent contamination and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Ultimately, this role supports the overall operational excellence and positive reputation of the Home by delivering consistent, high-quality housekeeping services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or cleaning services preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in hospitality, healthcare, or commercial cleaning environments.
• Familiarity with environmentally friendly cleaning products and sustainable practices.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers or carpet cleaners.

Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough cleaning of assigned rooms and common areas, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling materials in accordance with facility guidelines and environmental regulations.
• Maintain and restock cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or maintenance needs promptly.
• Follow established health and safety protocols to prevent hazards and ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
• Document completed tasks and communicate any issues or special requests to supervisors or management.

Skills:

The Housekeeping Tech utilizes attention to detail and organizational skills daily to ensure all areas meet cleanliness standards and are well-maintained. Effective time management is essential to complete assigned tasks efficiently within scheduled shifts. Communication skills are applied when coordinating with team members and reporting any maintenance or supply issues to supervisors. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are necessary to handle cleaning equipment and perform repetitive tasks safely. Additionally, knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols ensures the proper and responsible use of materials, contributing to a healthy environment for all building occupants.  If offered candidates will need to pass a criminal background screening as outlined for all employees working in a nursing home in New York.
