Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline; advanced degree or formal banking education is a plus
- Minimum 10 years of commercial banking, commercial credit, portfolio management, or commercial lending experience with significant Middle Market C&I exposure
- Previous leadership experience managing, mentoring, or developing Portfolio Managers, Credit Analysts, or commercial banking professionals
- Extensive experience underwriting and structuring Middle Market Commercial & Industrial (C&I) credit facilities
- Strong knowledge of cash flow lending, revolving lines of credit, equipment financing, acquisition financing, and term loan structures
- Deep understanding of commercial credit analysis, financial statement analysis, covenant design, global cash flow, leverage, liquidity, and debt service coverage
- Experience approving or recommending complex commercial credit transactions through formal credit approval processes
- Strong knowledge of commercial loan documentation, collateral structures, policy exceptions, and regulatory expectations
- Proven ability to manage portfolio quality while balancing client responsiveness and business growth
- Excellent coaching, communication, relationship management, and organizational skills
Description:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Middle Market C&I Portfolio Managers responsible for underwriting and managing commercial banking relationships
- Reports to Commercial Banking or Credit Leadership
- Provide guidance on complex credit structures, underwriting strategies, risk assessment, and portfolio management best practices
- Review and approve credit recommendations, ensuring consistency with underwriting standards, credit policy, and regulatory expectations
- Oversee portfolio quality by monitoring risk ratings, covenant compliance, criticized assets, industry concentrations, and emerging credit trends
- Partner with Commercial Relationship Managers to evaluate new lending opportunities, renewals, modifications, and complex credit requests
- Assist Portfolio Managers in structuring revolving credit facilities, working capital lines, equipment loans, acquisition financing, and other C&I lending solutions
- Review credit approval memoranda, annual reviews, renewals, amendments, and commitment documentation to ensure thorough financial analysis and sound credit recommendations
- Identify policy exceptions and work collaboratively with credit leadership to evaluate mitigating factors and appropriate risk controls
- Support talent development through coaching, performance feedback, workflow management, and ongoing technical credit training
- Coordinate with Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Legal, and other internal partners to ensure efficient execution of commercial lending transactions
- Participate in customer meetings involving larger or more complex commercial relationships and provide strategic credit guidance when appropriate
