Role Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee accounting operations, maintain general ledger accuracy, manage month-end and year-end closing activities, and support financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the full accounting cycle, account reconciliations, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and financial analysis, preferably within the construction, telecommunications, engineering, or another project-based industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and closing checklists.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accurate transaction classification.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.
• Maintain job costing and WIP reports, including cost-to-complete, percentage of completion, over/under billings, and project margin analysis.
• Review and allocate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs to appropriate jobs and cost codes.
• Oversee accounts payable, including invoice coding, approval compliance, vendor records, and payment processing.
• Oversee accounts receivable, customer invoicing, cash application, aging reports, and collection follow-ups.
• Support project billing and progress claims, including retainage, lien waivers, and contract-required documentation.
• Assist with payroll accounting, labor allocation, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, dashboards, and variance analyses.
• Support external audits, tax filings, insurance audits, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain internal controls and accurate accounting records.
• Collaborate with management and project teams to support budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and process improvements.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the full accounting cycle.
• Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, cost codes, project billing, and margin analysis.
• Experience in construction, telecommunications, engineering, or another project-based industry is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data reconciliation.
• Experience with ERP and accounting systems; Odoo experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• CPA or CMA certification, or active candidacy, is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet strict reporting deadlines.

Additional Details:

• Primarily office-based role, with occasional visits to warehouses, company facilities, and project sites.
• Standard Monday–Friday daytime schedule, with flexibility during month-end close, year-end close, and audit periods.
