We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Service Representative to support the continued growth of our marine and industrial coatings business. This newly created position will play a key role in supporting the FinishWorks partnership with MRT/Pettit while expanding our technical capabilities and market presence throughout the Midwest and beyond
Position Summary
The Senior Technical Service Representative provides technical expertise and field support for specialty coating systems used in marine and industrial applications. This role works directly with distributors, OEM manufacturers, shipyards, boat builders, coating applicators, contractors, and end users to ensure proper product selection, application, performance, and customer satisfaction.
This position also supports new business development efforts, assists in growing OEM relationships, and collaborates closely with Sales, Product Management, R&D, Operations, and Leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide field-based technical service and application support for marine and specialty coating systems.
- Conduct on-site evaluations, product testing, troubleshooting, and performance assessments.
- Support OEM customers and distribution partners with technical expertise and product recommendations.
- Deliver product demonstrations, training programs, and technical presentations.
- Assist customers with coating selection, application techniques, and process improvements.
- Investigate product performance concerns and develop effective corrective actions.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within assigned markets and territories.
- Partner with sales teams to increase market penetration and customer engagement.
- Document customer interactions and technical activities through company reporting systems.
- Represent FinishWorks at customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
- Support product improvement initiatives and provide market feedback to internal teams.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3 years of experience in technical service, coatings, paint, manufacturing, industrial finishes, composites, or related industries.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly.
Preferred:
- Experience with marine coatings, industrial coatings, or performance finishes.
- Experience supporting OEM customers or distribution networks.
- Technical sales or business development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific, engineering, or business-related discipline.
- Coatings certifications such as AMPP, NACE, or SSPC.
- Experience conducting customer training programs.

Travel Requirements
This position requires regular travel, including overnight travel, to customer locations throughout the United States. Candidates should be comfortable working in manufacturing facilities, customer sites, marine environments, and industrial settings.
