About the Role
PG&Eβs Innovation Accelerator is driving next-generation solutions across grid modernization, energy efficiency, electrification, and customer experience. We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support a high-visibility Alpha initiative focused on developing an advanced energy load management device that enables electrification at scale.
This role serves as the single point of accountability for multi-year, complex projects requiring strong judgment, risk management, and cross-functional leadership. The ideal candidate brings deep project management expertise, strong communication skills, and experience within the energy or electric utility sector.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-year projects with high organizational visibility
- Apply and adapt project management methodologies to initiatives that may be ambiguous or require innovative approaches
- Develop and secure alignment on detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, cost, resources, risk, and communications
- Track budgets, timelines, critical paths, and performance metrics
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; develop contingency plans
- Manage vendor integrations, deliverables, and third-party engagements
- Provide consistent project reporting and status updates to executive and cross-functional stakeholders
- Maintain complete and accurate project documentation
- Facilitate governance and operating reviews (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Support tactical execution through 1-3-10 planning, workstream management, and milestone tracking
- Capture and communicate lessons learned and best practices
- Ensure compliance with PMO standards, budget controls, and reporting tools

Required Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8 years of project management experience (9 years for non-utility backgrounds)
- Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience with electric utilities or energy industry projects strongly preferred
- Ability to operate independently under general direction
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification (active or in good standing)
- Prior experience with PG&E or comparable electric utility organizations
- Experience supporting innovation, R&D, grid modernization, or electrification initiatives
