Shift: Varied dependent on business needs Monday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Weekend availability is a must.

Wage: $13/hr

Finders Keepers Thrift Store is owned and operated by the Onslow Victims Center:

Finders Keepers is a non-profit thrift store run solely on donations from the community. It is open to shop 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm and accepts donations daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All donated items are resold in the Thrift Store, with 100% of the proceeds going towards programming for survivors of SA/DV/HT. OVC clients are given vouchers which allow them to shop free at the thrift store. This position plays an important role in creating a positive and welcoming experience for clients, customers, and donors.

OVC provides crisis intervention to victims of domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA), human trafficking (HT) and a mission to end all forms of interpersonal violence through education and prevention. OVC provides advocacy, case management, community outreach and education, and emergency shelter. Our advocates provide a broad focus on all potential elements of victimization through crisis intervention, identify and respond to cognitive distortions, explore coping with symptoms, provide information, options, resources, explanation of systems and how to interface, and provide psychoeducation about sexual assault and Intimate Partner Violence. Advocates respond to the hospital for sexual assault cases, accompaniment to court, and support the shelter clients. The shelter is intended to be temporary based on emergent and imminent danger for all genders and their children. Additionally, OVC owns and operates a robust Thrift Store called Finders Keepers where all proceeds support the mission of serving survivors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervision of Thrift Store staff

· Orient new staff and volunteers to donation processing

· Directs volunteers on work activities required to ensure the store is maintained in proper order with sufficient stock merchandise

· Quality assurance once staff process donations to ensure items are clean, unbroken, and suitable for resale

· Elevate issues to leadership when indicated

· Other duties/projects as assigned by leadership

· Support store operations in the absence of the Manager

· Maximizes sales performance through proper rotation, display, signage, and inventory of processed merchandise

· Assist with store opening or closure at the end of business day

· Operate cash register, balance at end of business day, and make deposit

· Assist Managers in the training of new hires and volunteers with guidance on job tasks and methods for selecting clothing for sale.

· Cashiering and providing excellent customer services

· Serve as a resource person for staff

· Thrift Store staff donation processing

· Greets donors in a pleasant and professional manner

· Receive, sort, and transport donations to appropriate destinations

· Price items, stock sales floor, and rotate as necessary

· Ensure donated items are in sellable condition

· Ensure store is maintained in proper order with cleanliness and sufficient stock merchandise

· Create displays of merchandise

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS

o High School or GED equivalent

o Complete a successful background check

o Basic English language and some mathematical skills

o Experience in a supervisory position which required excellent customer service is desirable

o Previous experience in operating a cash register is desirable

Successful supervisor candidate must

o Understand and support the mission and vision of the Onslow Victims Center

o Serve as a role model and promote a supportive work culture

o Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., bend/stand/walk for long periods

o Withstand working outdoors in various weather conditions such as hot summer and cold winter temperatures, with appropriate PPE

o Strong organizational skills and work autonomously or in groups

o Polite, friendly attitude to deal pleasantly with customers and coworkers

o Relate and work well with people from various backgrounds

o Possess exemplar communication skills; both oral and written

o Able to remain calm in challenging situations
