Job Summary
A growing boutique law firm in Columbia, SC is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys through all stages of civil litigation. This role involves hands-on case management, document preparation, discovery coordination, and trial support. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a small‑firm environment where responsibilities are broad and impactful.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files
- Track deadlines, court rules, and litigation calendars
- Assist with scheduling, client communication, and attorney reminders
- Draft, proof, and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, and related filings
- Prepare trial notebooks, binders, and exhibit lists
- File documents in state and federal courts (ECF/CEF)
- Organize and index document production
- Manage e‑discovery platforms and assist with document review
- Coordinate subpoenas, document retrieval, and deposition materials
- Summarize depositions, records, and project files
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, experts, and vendors
- Coordinate depositions, mediations, travel, and site inspections
- Maintain clear, professional communication with parties involved in litigation
- Prepare exhibits, witness materials, and courtroom documents
- Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed
- Provide real-time organizational support during proceedings
- Review project documents such as contracts, RFIs, change orders, and timelines
- Prepare damages summaries and case chronologies
- Assist in preparing expert materials and organizing complex project files
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal (construction/business litigation preferred)
- Strong knowledge of South Carolina civil procedure and court rules
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and legal research tools; e‑discovery experience is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail and time‑management skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced small-firm environment
- Professional communication skills with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
Compensation:
- $55K-$70K (depending on experience level)
