Mechanical Drafter

Our client is a growing manufacturer of custom-engineered industrial enclosures, modular structures, and specialty fabricated systems used in demanding industrial and commercial environments throughout North America.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Mechanical Drafter to join their Greenville team. This individual will play a critical role in transforming engineering concepts into fabrication-ready manufacturing documentation that supports custom projects from design through production.

This is more than a traditional drafting role. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, project management, purchasing, and manufacturing teams while helping ensure projects are accurately documented, successfully fabricated, and efficiently installed. As the team grows, this position offers the opportunity to take increasing ownership of projects and potentially grow into a lead drafting role.

What You'll Do

• Create detailed manufacturing, fabrication, and installation drawings using SolidWorks.
• Convert engineering and approval drawings into production-ready documentation.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Prepare manufacturing packages, fabrication drawings, and installation documentation.
• Break complex projects into individual components, assemblies, and manufacturing requirements.
• Verify materials, hardware, electrical components, finishes, and project specifications before production release.
• Create and maintain technical documentation in accordance with company drafting standards.
• Support production teams by providing drawing revisions and technical documentation updates as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, purchasing, and manufacturing teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting standards, manufacturing efficiency, and engineering documentation.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Experience as a Mechanical Drafter, CAD Drafter, Design Drafter, Production Drafter, or similar technical drafting role.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings and production documentation.
• Experience developing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabrication practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical drafting education, CAD training, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience supporting manufacturing or fabrication operations.
• Sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Experience creating fabrication drawings and installation documentation.
• Knowledge of welding, forming, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience creating laser cutting files.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit.
