Summary:
Our client is seeking a skilled and compassionate Attorney licensed in South Carolina to handle matters in Probate and Family Law. The ideal candidate will have experience practicing before South Carolina Probate Court and Family Court, strong client‑management skills, and the ability to navigate complex legal and emotionally sensitive issues. This position involves managing cases from intake through resolution, including court appearances and direct client representation.
Responsibilities:
- Advise and represent clients in South Carolina probate, estate administration, guardianship/conservatorship, and family law matters, including contested and uncontested proceedings
- Prepare, file, and manage court pleadings and documents for Probate and Family Court, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and local rules
- Represent clients in hearings, mediations, temporary hearings, trials, and contested proceedings before South Carolina Probate and Family Courts
- Analyze financial records and assets, negotiate settlements, and advocate effectively on issues involving estate administration, equitable distribution, and support
- Manage client relationships and caseloads through clear communication, strategic guidance, collaboration with staff, and accurate timekeeping and billing
Required:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the South Carolina Bar
- 2–5 years of experience practicing Probate and/or Family Law in South Carolina
- Working knowledge of South Carolina Probate Court and Family Court procedures
- Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills
Preferred
- Experience with contested probate matters and complex family law litigation
- Courtroom and trial experience in South Carolina Family Court or Probate Court
- Mediation experience or training
- Familiarity with South Carolina e‑filing systems and legal case management software
Work Environment:
- Professional law office setting
- Regular interaction with South Carolina courts, clients, and opposing counsel Court appearances required based on caseload
