A well-established company in Columbia, SC is seeking an Accountant to join its team. This position is based onsite and provides exposure to company leadership, financial operations, payroll, billing, budgeting, and general accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing
- Process vendor invoices, issue payments, maintain vendor documentation, and support annual tax reporting requirements
- Monitor outstanding receivables and communicate with clients regarding account balances and payment status
- Administer bi-weekly payroll, maintain employee records, and ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
- Oversee client billing processes, including pre-bill review, invoice preparation, revisions, and electronic invoicing
- Maintain financial records, general ledger accounts, journal entries, bank deposits, and account reconciliations
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership review
- Participate in finance and leadership meetings by presenting financial updates and operational insights
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow management, banking relationships, and line-of-credit administration
- Coordinate year-end financial activities with the firm's external CPA and accounting partners
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, payroll, billing, or general accounting functions
- Understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries preferred
- Experience with accounting, payroll, billing, or practice management software is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with leadership
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn new financial processes and responsibilities
Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000-$85,000 annually
