Duties
- Measure clients accurately to determine tailoring needs for men's formal wear, including suits, tuxedos, and dress shirts
- Perform clothing alterations such as hemming, taking in or letting out seams, adjusting sleeves, and resizing garments with precision
- Operate pressing machines and press garments to achieve crisp lines and professional finishes while maintaining fabric integrity
- Use garment sewing techniques to assemble tailored pieces ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal
- Provide excellent customer service by advising clients on fit adjustments, fabric choices, and styling options
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace with proper handling of sewing tools, pressing equipment, and fabric materials
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fashion retail tailoring with a focus on men's wear tailoring or custom apparel production
- Strong knowledge of clothing alterations, garment sewing, stitching techniques, and garment construction processes
- Familiarity with fabric materials used in men's formal wear such as wool, silk blends, and cottons
- Proficiency in operating sewing machines, pressing machines, and press operation for finishing garments
- Skilled in hand sewing for detailed adjustments and finishing touches
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and pattern adjustments accurately
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients about their tailoring needs
