Territory: The candidate will be responsible for growing sales and education along the entire West Coast, and must reside in the greater Los Angeles or Southern California area.
Travel will be 75% within respective territory as needed for salon, distributor events, and education
programs. Very competitive industry-standard base compensation bonus long-term incentives available where possible and are negotiable.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Business Development Manager (BDM) for the Professional Salon Channel is a key field-based role responsible for accelerating growth of FILAMENT across the salon business partners we work with. This individual will work remotely within their assigned territory and partner closely with our distributor field sales teams to drive brand engagement and love, sell-through, education, content creation, and new account conquesting.The BDM acts as a brand ambassador, educator, and commercial partner, ensuring consistent execution, strong distributor relationships, and sustained business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Distributor & Field Sales Support
• Partner with distributor field sales representatives to drive sell-through of FILAMENT within
professional salon accounts.
• Conduct joint sales calls, ride-alongs, and in-salon support to strengthen distributor effectiveness.
• Serve as the primary field liaison between FILAMENT and distributor sales organizations.
Business Development & Growth
• Identify and develop new salon opportunities while expanding business within existing accounts.
• Execute regional growth strategies aligned with national sales objectives.
• Support distributor initiatives, promotions, and launches to maximize market penetration.
Education & Brand Building
• Deliver compelling brand, product, and education presentations to salon owners, stylists, and
distributor teams.
• Support hands-on education, events, and regional training sessions as needed.
• Ensure consistent brand messaging and positioning in-market.
Salon & Stylist Engagement
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key salon accounts and distributor stakeholders as well
as help foster a spirit of community among our stylist tribe in the territory.
• Monitor in-market performance, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
• Support merchandising, visibility, and promotional execution in salons.
Reporting & Collaboration
• Track activity, account progress, and results using CRM and reporting tools.
• Provide market feedback, competitive insights, and growth opportunities to internal teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with education, marketing, and sales leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• 3–7 years of experience in professional beauty, salon, or distributor-driven sales• Proven success working with distributor field sales teams
• Strong understanding of the professional salon channel and stylist ecosystem
• Excellent relationship-building, presentation, and communication skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage a large territory independently
• Willingness to travel extensively within assigned region (typically 60–70%)
Preferred
• Experience supporting sell-through-focused brands
• Background in education-led selling or brand-building initiatives
• Familiarity with CRM tools and sales reporting systems
