Program Coordinator – Martin Center

Basic Function
The Program Coordinator assists in the overall operation of the Center with a focus on planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities that are educational, social, and recreational. These programs are designed to encourage total health, well-being, and community involvement. The Program Coordinator also supports the recruitment and retention of center members, supervises instructors and volunteers, and maintains center databases.
Core Responsibilities
- Plan, promote, implement, and evaluate center programs to ensure engaging, high-quality experiences.
- Set up program spaces and help maintain a clean, organized Center.
- Prepare the monthly center calendar and collaborate with staff to implement activities; promote events through social media and other platforms.
- Welcome new members, conduct tours, and promote center membership.
- In partnership with the Center Director, recruit, hire, evaluate, and manage instructors and group facilitators.
- Drive the agency vehicle or coordinate volunteer drivers for programming, special events, and trips.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date activity records in MySeniorCenter and GiveHub systems.
- Support the Center Director with overall center operations and elevate important issues as needed.
- Collaborate with the Membership and Program Committees to identify new program opportunities.
- Assist in creating and delivering digital/virtual content for the membership portal and social media.
- Maintain a strong, engaged volunteer corps, ensuring training and recognition per agency guidelines.
- Coordinate with the FiftyForward Communications team to publicize ongoing programs.
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Serve as the acting lead in the absence of the Center Director.
- Provide backup support for office personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, recreation, or a related field required.
- An associate degree with equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in program planning, marketing, promotion, and member recruitment.
- Customer-facing experience required.
- Preferred: Experience working with active older adults, volunteers, non-profit agencies, or in health/fitness.
- Experience in newsletter and flyer creation is a plus.
Special Skills
- Strong administrative, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, older adults, volunteers, and the public.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook); experience with Office 365 preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Includes sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, and fine motor coordination.
- Must assist participants on/off vans and attend off-site meetings or events.
- High-noise environment at times; smoke-free workplace.
Equipment Requirements
- Proficiency in: Microsoft Office (including Publisher), MySeniorCenter, GiveHub, desktop computers, audio-visual equipment, exercise equipment, multi-line phone systems, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
- Ability and willingness to drive a 14-passenger van; must maintain a clean driving record and appropriate insurance.
- Must have or obtain CPR certification.
Working Hours
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Flexible availability required for occasional mornings, evenings, and weekends.
