Fieldman has offices in Irvine in Orange County and downtown San Francisco.
Vice President
Fieldman is seeking to hire a Vice President (“VP”) for its Irvine office. The VP should have extensive EXCEL and modeling skills and be prepared to work alongside the Engagement Manager for very complex modeling.
VPs serve in leadership roles on transactions and have growth opportunities with both existing clients and opportunities to pursue new clients. Fieldman operates with the highest level of integrity and are detail-oriented to provide analysis related to public agencies debt financing activities, as well as support project management with the analysis of operating and capital budgets for government agencies. VPs work actively with Engagement Managers to meet client’s needs. This includes but is not limited to developing debt financing models supporting analysis to Project Managers, ensuring functionality and industry standards are addressed within the proposed solution to the finance challenge, and that the analysis supports the recommended approach. VPs also review the financial elements of Local Bond Measures and other revenue producing opportunities for public agencies.

Responsibilities:
- May be responsible for the planning/scheduling and resource allocation on a particular project.
- Each Vice President is expected to annually bill 1,700 hours.
- Seeks business development opportunities. While Project and Engagement Manager may remain the primary contact for the business development opportunity this must be ideas, contacts or approaches that would not have been undertaken without the initiative of the Vice President.
- Reviews and develops detailed specifications for implementation of the selected debt transaction. Communicates results of analysis to several different levels of client organization.
- Responds to questions and influences the client regarding current and potential alternatives, processes, and outputs. Conducts research and analysis into the nature, effect and results of various debt financing scenarios. Develops detailed documentation, workflow procedures, and data analysis. Negotiates plans, time frames and trade-offs while ensuring client understands the final results of the debt financing transaction.
- Consults with project and engagement manager to develop understanding of the varied needs supported by the required analysis tools. Responsible for determining how changing interest rates and market conditions will affect the analysis. Understands the role of the analysis in the macro environment and provides both ideas and recommendations regarding the evolution of the analysis presentation of the data to the client and it's governing Board.
- Oversees production or produces reports, timelines, and graphics using advanced functions of a personal computer.
- Attend meetings with either project manager and engagement manager and on their own from time to time. Employee shall present or lead 3 meetings in the first year, 10 meetings in the second year and 15 meetings in the third year.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Eight to ten years similar or related experience. Depending on work experience, less experience may be sufficient.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Math or a related technical field is required.
- Successfully complete Municipal Advisor Representative Exam within 90 days after employment is initiated.
- The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills are critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.
- External Skills: The ability to discuss work product with clients and advance the firm's marketing approach.
- High level of computer literacy with spreadsheets, processing and database software and/or business systems. Ability to understand complex concepts governing debt and financing structures, general economic principles, and the nature of interest rates and the securities markets.
- Position requires work in the office and away from work duties do not end when not in the office. Employee is responsible for maintaining job responsibilities while traveling.
- Travel Requirement: Regular travel is required with regular overnight lodging.
