Job Description
The Portfolio Associate is responsible for translating and implementing Fiduciary Trust’s investment strategy in client portfolios.The Portfolio Associate is an integral member of the Wealth Management team, partnering with Investment Officers to develop investment strategies based on client goals. This role requires a high level of sophistication and flexibility in understanding and implementing diverse investment strategies as well as a deep understanding of capital markets and investments vehicles. The ideal candidate possesses a demonstrated interest in client-facing advisory work and looks to deepen relationships both internally and externally.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive investment decisions for balanced multi-asset class portfolios to achieve performance targets, subject to the client’s customized investment needs; Services may include management of liquidity needs, analysis of equity, fixed income and opportunistic alternative investments.
- Review, monitor, and evaluate client asset allocations, portfolio holdings and variances to stated objectives and recommend corrective actions.
- Serve as a key member of client team, responding to client inquiries and coordinating service requests internally; Prepare plans, run analyses and participate in client meetings, building meaningful relationships with clients over time.
- Create presentations and customized performance reports and prepare client books for meetings.
- Provide investment research and analysis to Investment Officers.
- Collaborate with designated officers to handle client cash flow requests and rebalancing of portfolios.
- Consult Officers on portfolio management including tax-related trades, portfolio optimization, and other elements of portfolio construction.
- Provide various relevant analytical tasks and responsibilities across the Wealth Management and Investment teams.
- Assist in the management of all aspects of client relationships, including communication, trading and coordination with Investment Officers.
Required Skills and Characteristics
- 3 years of private wealth management or investment management industry experience, as well as experience in portfolio construction.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, statistics, economics or mathematics preferred; or completion of / progress toward a CFA or CFP.
- Strong knowledge of investing and global financial markets; Knowledge of financial planning (such as capital gains budgeting), as well as investment software (i.e. Morningstar, Bloomberg, Factset) a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a high focus on relationship management.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage competing deadlines and expectations.
- Impeccable integrity and a strong work ethic.
Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $90,000-$120,000 based on experience and qualifications. This role may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus.
