Individuals employed as an underwriter require keen analytical and mathematical skills. As the job deals with utilizing personal information to assess potential clients, personal integrity is essential.
Responsibilities for Underwriter
- Review, analyze, accept, and decline casualty risks of insuring
- Participate in continuing education courses to remain knowledgeable and competitive in the industry
- Use professional techniques and strategies to calculate the risk associated with client policies
- Complete assignments within established timeframes and accurately forecast risk.
- Participate in audits and/or underwriting meetings as required
- Build and maintain quality relationships with key producers while simultaneously monitoring the entire appointed producer base for profitability and production
Qualifications for Underwriter
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar admission.
- Minimum 2 years in real estate or related field
- Strong customer service, presentation, and interpersonal
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary software
- Experience working with private and sensitive personal information
- Must be a team player that enjoys a flexible and spontaneous business environment with a desire to succeed
- highly organized, multi-tasks, skilled at creating risk assessment reports, and comfortable working on multiple projects at once.
