Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Location: Fichte, Endl & Elmer Eyecare
Position Summary:
The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and visitors at Fichte, Endl & Elmer Eyecare. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming and professional environment, managing front desk operations, and supporting the clinical team by ensuring accurate scheduling, registration, and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly manner.
- Answer incoming calls, direct inquiries, and schedule/reschedule appointments.
- Register new and returning patients, verify insurance, and collect demographic and billing information.
- Check patients in and out, process copays, and provide receipts.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist with insurance authorizations, referrals, and eligibility verification as needed.
- Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide general administrative support to providers and staff as requested.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical office experience preferred.
- Prior experience as a receptionist, patient service representative, or in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
- Proficient with computers and EMR systems (experience with ophthalmology/optometry software a plus).
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain professional in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday (occasional evenings or Saturdays as needed).
- Work performed in a professional medical office setting with direct patient interaction.
