About The Role

The position of Technical Engineer within the Army National Guard is a specialized role focused on construction, surveying, and engineering support. As a Technical Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing various construction projects essential for military operations and community infrastructure. Your work will involve designing airstrips, docks, barracks, roads, and other critical structures, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. You will receive comprehensive training that equips you with skills in technical investigation, surveying, drafting, and developing construction plans and specifications. Qualifications

• Enlistment in the Army National Guard is required.
• Must be at least a high school junior, have a high school diploma, or a GED certificate.
• Age requirement is between 17 and 35 years old.
• Ability to pass a physical examination and meet legal, moral, and citizenship standards.
• Interest in maps, charts, and technical drawings is advantageous.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with drafting software are preferred.
• Interest in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry will be beneficial for success in this role.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Draw topographic maps and charts using Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) systems and software to support construction projects.
• Conduct geodetic and construction surveys utilizing Automated Integrated Survey Instruments and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to gather precise data.
• Provide technical support for vertical and horizontal construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans and safety standards.
• Develop and analyze construction plans, specifications, and diagrams for various structures such as airfields, roads, and buildings.
• Perform land surveys, analyze survey data, and prepare detailed reports for project planning and execution.
• Assist in the development of structural wiring, plumbing diagrams, and scale models to visualize project layouts.
• Interpret aerial photographs and create photomaps to assist in land development and project planning.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.
