We are seeking a Design & Development Manager to oversee and coordinate the architectural and engineering aspects of our projects from early design through construction.
This role is responsible for managing external architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and aligned with the overall vision.
This is not a design role. The position focuses on project management, coordination, and execution, supporting leadership in bringing projects to life.
Project & Consultant Management
- Manage external architects, engineers, and consultants across all project phases
- Coordinate deliverables, timelines, and communication between all parties
- Ensure drawings and documentation are progressing on schedule
Design Coordination (Non-Design Role)
- Review plans and drawings for completeness, coordination, and alignment with project goals
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or potential issues in documentation
- Support leadership in maintaining the overall design intent (without generating design work)
Meetings & Communication
- Lead project coordination meetings with consultants and internal stakeholders
- Track key decisions, action items, and follow-ups
- Ensure accountability across all team members
Permitting & Documentation Oversight
- Oversee the progression of construction documents and permitting packages
- Coordinate with consultants to ensure compliance with local codes and requirements
- Track submission timelines and approvals
Construction Phase Support
- Act as a liaison between design teams and construction teams
- Assist in resolving design-related questions during construction
- Help ensure execution aligns with approved documents
- This role reports directly to company leadership
- Works in close collaboration with ownership to execute project vision
- Supports leadership in decision-making but does not set design direction
- 5–15 years of experience in architecture, design, or real estate development
- Strong experience managing projects and coordinating multiple consultants
- Solid understanding of construction documents, permitting, and project lifecycle
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Background in an architecture firm, design-build firm, or real estate development company
- Experience working on residential or similar project types
- Licensed architect (or on path to licensure) is a plus, but not required
- A highly organized, execution-focused professional
- Someone who can keep projects moving and teams accountable
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Able to identify problems early and proactively solve them
- Strong communicator who can coordinate across multiple stakeholders
