CAD Operator
The CAD Operator supports the planning and development of outside plant (OSP) networks by producing precise CAD drawings, construction-ready plan sets, and accurate as-built documentation. This role requires strong drafting expertise, knowledge of network design standards, and close collaboration with engineers, field teams, and project managers to deliver high-quality designs on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and revise CAD drawings for aerial and underground network routes, including splice locations, cabinets, handholes, conduit systems, and pole attachments.
- Translate engineering concepts, field notes, redlines, GIS data, and survey information into accurate and detailed design drawings.
- Prepare complete construction plan sets, including legends, notes, bills of materials, plan-and-profile sheets, and as-built updates.
- Interpret utility records, pole data, right-of-way (ROW) information, and field photos to ensure drawings accurately reflect existing conditions.
- Maintain drawing standards, version control, and compliance with client, utility, and permitting requirements.
- Perform quality control reviews to ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and submission-ready.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to resolve design conflicts and support constructability.
- Update drawings throughout the project lifecycle to reflect field changes, design revisions, and permitting requirements.
- Provide timely drafting support, documentation, and technical coordination to project teams as needed.
Qualifications
Education: Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- 1β3 years of CAD drafting experience; telecommunications or network design experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSP design components, including splice plans, conduit layouts, slack loops, and pole attachments.
Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; GIS experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering inputs, field documentation, and utility data.
- Familiarity with plan-and-profile drawings, including alignment, elevations, and stationing.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills in a fast-paced project environment.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
