Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Operations Manager in planning, organizing, and overseeing daily operations to ensure efficient production and high-quality output.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of production supervisors and other production personnel to achieve production targets and operational goals.
- Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
- Ensure that all production activities are carried out in compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of production schedules, ensuring that materials, labor, and equipment are available to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with the quality department to maintain high standards of product quality and address any quality-related issues promptly.
- Support the Operations Manager in managing budgets, controlling costs, and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing and other process improvement methodologies.
- Assist in the training and development of staff, ensuring that employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
- Monitor and maintain equipment and facilities, working with the maintenance team to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
- Act as Plant Manager in their absence, making decisions and managing operations as needed.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing or steel processing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of steel processing operations, including slitting, rolling, cutting, and finishing processes.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams to achieve operational goals.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or other process improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in using production management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and other safety standards in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
