This role supports Project SEARCH, a partnership between Fello, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, and the Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS). Project SEARCH is a work-based learning experience for students with disabilities who are transitioning from school to adult services. This Employment Advisor position is based at Luminis Health at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD.
The Employment Advisor provides a wide variety of Workforce Development related services, with a focus on job coaching and retention services to 5-12 people in Project SEARCH, working as interns at Luminis Health during the school year. During school breaks they will assist in supporting other participants in Fello’s Workforce Development program. The Employment Advisor works with an interdisciplinary team to provide wrap around supports to ensure people with disabilities retain employment and improve work skills. The Employment Advisor may provide transportation to and from work for the people they are assigned to support. The Employment Advisor must meet the qualifications of a direct support professional and complete all training excluding Certified Medication Technician.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring experience in job coaching, workforce development, or related services and a passion for empowering people with disabilities to succeed in meaningful employment. They will be organized, collaborative, and skilled at relationship-building with employers, coworkers, and families. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs are essential, as is a commitment to person-centered support and building confidence in those served.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of experience working with people with disabilities; a bachelor’s degree and experience in workforce development programs is a plus. A valid Maryland Driver’s License with no significant traffic violations is required, along with the ability to drive a car or van. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and other technology tools, are necessary. Once hired, employees must pass ACRES certification (paid for by Fello) and obtain the Certified Employment Specialist Professional certification within one year of hire.
