Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Litigation Associate to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of litigation experience and be ready to handle significant responsibility in managing their own caseload while working collaboratively with our experienced attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Discovery Management: Draft and respond to all forms of written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
- Deposition Practice: Prepare for and take depositions of parties and witnesses, and defend client depositions
- Legal Writing: Prepare high-quality pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and correspondence
- Case Strategy: Conduct comprehensive legal research and develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys
- Client Relations: Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and counsel throughout the litigation process
- Court Appearances: Attend court conferences, hearings, and motion arguments
- Trial Preparation and Appearances: Assist with all aspects of trial preparation, including fact and expert witness preparation, exhibit organization, pre- and post-trial motion practice, jury consideration and selection, and the opportunity to second chair our more complex trials and take the lead on smaller ones
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing of the New Jersey State Bar and at least one other active or pending bar admission in New York or Pennsylvania
- 1-3 years of civil litigation experience
- Demonstrated experience with both affirmative and responsive discovery rules and practice
- Proven ability to take and defend depositions
- Exceptional legal writing skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and research capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
- Proficiency in legal research platforms (LexisNexis)
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Federal and New Jersey State court rules and procedures
- Experience with e-discovery platforms and case management systems
- Civil litigation clerkship
- Willingness to learn new skills and assist as necessary in other practice areas, such as Family Law, Environmental Law, and Corporate/Business Law
