Feeding San Diego is a non-profit organization on a mission to connect every person facing hunger with nutritious meals by maximizing food rescue. Established in 2007, Feeding San Diego rescues surplus food from local and national food donors before it goes to waste and gets it to people facing hunger in San Diego County. It is the only Feeding America partner food bank in the region.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a rare opportunity to help shape and execute a transformational campaign that will strengthen Feeding San Diego’s impact for decades to come. The Campaign Manager will be the connective tissue that keeps the campaign organized, energized, and moving forward.

The Campaign Project Manager will play a central role in coordinating and driving the success of Feeding San Diego’s multi-year $50 million Capital Campaign. This position is responsible for managing the campaign’s day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment between staff, board members, campaign volunteers, and external partners.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, proactive project manager who thrives in a mission-driven environment and can keep a complex, high-stakes campaign moving forward with clarity and precision. This role does not focus on frontline fundraising or solicitation; instead, it ensures the infrastructure, systems, and coordination needed for campaign success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Campaign Project Management

  • Develop and maintain the master campaign plan, timeline, and milestones.
  • Track progress toward goals and ensure timely completion of tasks by staff, board members, and campaign volunteers.
  • Coordinate campaign committee meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, materials, and follow-up.
  • Maintain a centralized system for campaign documentation, reports, and communications.

Internal & External Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison between staff, board members, campaign counsel, and other partners.
  • Support the CEO, Senior Director of Development, Directors, and board leadership with preparation for donor meetings, briefings, and campaign updates.
  • Ensure campaign volunteers and committee have the tools, information, and support needed to be successful.

Data & Reporting

  • Work with the development team to track campaign commitments, pledges, and progress using the CRM.
  • Prepare regular campaign dashboards, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential campaign records.
  • Analyze campaign data to identify trends and inform strategy.
  • Use AI tools to enhance insights, accuracy, and reporting efficiency.

Prospect Strategy

  • Support development and execution of prospective strategies, including identification, qualification, and cultivation planning.
  • Conduct prospect research to inform engagement approaches and donor priorities.
  • Partner with development staff to track prospect activity, next steps, and pipeline movement.
  • Prepare prospect briefings, profiles, and strategy materials for leadership and volunteers.

Stewardship

  • Support the development and execution of donor stewardship strategies to strengthen long-term engagement.
  • Prepare timely acknowledgments, impact updates, and personalized donor communications.
  • Track and manage stewardship activities to ensure consistent and meaningful donor follow-up.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop reports, stories, and materials that demonstrate campaign impact.

Communications & Materials

  • Coordinate the development of campaign collateral, case statements, presentations, and donor materials.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all campaign-related communications.
  • Support the creation of talking points, briefing documents, and follow-up materials for leadership and volunteers.

Event & Meeting Support

  • Assist with planning and executing campaign-related events, tours, materials/proposals and small-group gatherings.
  • Manage logistics, guest lists, and follow-up communications.

INTERACTION

This position will interact closely with the CEO, Board members, the senior leadership team, staff consultants/contractors, private sector donors, and corporate representatives. The position also requires frequent interaction with all FSD staff and volunteers of our community.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE

3–5 years of experience in project management, development operations, campaign management, or related fields. Experience supporting a capital campaign or major fundraising initiative preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Nonprofit experience, especially in development or advancement.
  • Familiarity with donor stewardship and fundraising best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking paired with operational execution.
  • High emotional intelligence and professionalism.
  • Proactive problem-solving and the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Commitment to Feeding San Diego’s mission and values.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices
  • Passion for and commitment to Feeding San Diego’s mission to alleviate hunger and food insecurity

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Office computer, multi-line phone, copier, and printer.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee will be asked to successfully perform to fulfill the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly expected to:

  • Work in an office adjacent to a warehouse setting with occasional travel to other locations in San Diego County.
  • Prioritizes and multi-task work and projects requiring good memory, concentration, and analytical thinking.
  • Occasionally it is required to perform the safe operation of office equipment and machines and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace.
  • Perform work in an office and warehouse space housing warehouse operations, which may occasionally create an exposure to dust and pollen.
  • The noise level in the work environment varies and can be considered moderate.

PAY & HOURS

$75,000 - $80,000; Hybrid M-F; 2 days in office, 3 days remote; with occasional travel to other sites & work in evenings or weekends
