Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Support development, implementation, and enforcement of AI governance policies and procedures that align with direction and current federal AI policy requirements issued by OMB and other governing authorities.
- Interpret and translate federal AI implementation guidance into agency-level governance processes, operating procedures, compliance controls, and actionable implementation guidance for business and technical stakeholders.
- Document acceptable uses of AI ,including requirements related to transparency, accountability, human oversight, privacy, security, fairness, and lawful use of AI-enabled capabilities.
- Assist in creating, maintaining, reviewing, and updating AI policy and inventory attestations, data calls, use case documentation, and related reporting required by OMB, CAIO-related governance activities, or other oversight bodies.
- Support AI lifecycle governance activities, including governance checkpoints, policy reviews, compliance assessments, and implementation guidance across the lifecycle of AI systems and use cases.
- Develop and implement processes that help assure Agency compliance with AI policies, procedures, inventories, reporting obligations, and implementation controls.
- Support executive and program governance activities related to the CAIO, executive councils, and other AI governance bodies by preparing briefings, meeting materials, decision memos, reports, and presentations.
- Monitor and analyze changes in federal AI policy, OMB memoranda, executive direction, and related implementation guidance and assess impacts on AI governance, policy, and operating practices.
- Support responses to policy changes, audits, higher-level monitoring authority data calls, and new directives affecting agency AI use.
- Develop governance documentation addressing secure and compliant AI use, including considerations for data handling, access controls, risk management, documentation standards, and incident response coordination.
- Integrate AI governance requirements with existing governance frameworks, enterprise policies, and mission processes to enable consistent implementation across programs and use cases.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on policy compliance for AI initiatives, including responsible use, documentation expectations, approval pathways, and governance review requirements.
- Support coordination among policy, legal, privacy, security, architecture, data, and program stakeholders to align AI implementation activities with federal and agency governance expectations.
- Prepare weekly status reports, executive-ready communications, technical documentation, standard operating procedures, governance artifacts, and other work products relating to AI program management.
Basic Qualifications Required Education, Certifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor s degree in Public Policy, Information Systems, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Business, Law, or a related field, with 8 years of relevant experience in AI governance, federal policy implementation, compliance, IT governance, program management, or technology policy; or a Master s degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing, interpreting, implementing, or enforcing policies and procedures in support of federal technology, data, privacy, security, or AI governance programs.
- Strong knowledge of OMB and other federal AI policy requirements governing agency AI adoption, AI governance, risk management, inventories, reporting, and acquisition practices, including familiarity with OMB M-25-21, OMB M-25-22, and OMB M-24-10.
- Experience supporting compliance with federal memoranda, executive direction, agency policy requirements, or government-wide implementation guidance in a federal or highly regulated environment.
- Experience supporting AI inventory, policy attestation, audit response, executive governance activities, or agency responses to federal data calls and oversight requirements.
- Understanding of AI lifecycle governance, responsible AI principles, and implementation controls related to transparency, accountability, and human oversight.
- Experience supporting CAIO council or executive AI governance activities within a federal agency.
- Familiarity with the AI in Government Act, the Advancing American AI Act, agency AI inventories, and AI acquisition governance.
- Experience preparing policy analyses, executive briefings, memoranda, governance artifacts, SOPs, and other documentation for senior leadership and oversight stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder coordination, facilitation, and communication skills across business, policy, legal, compliance, and technical audiences.
- Experience collaborating with executive leadership, legal/compliance stakeholders, security and privacy teams, architects, data teams, and program owners.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Confluence, and workflow or work management tools.
